Jaipur was a princely state located in the northwestern region of India, established in the early 18th century by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II of the Kachwaha Rajput clan. The state’s capital was the city of Jaipur, a planned city founded by Sawai Jai Singh II to serve as the new political and cultural center.
History
The state was formed when Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II shifted his capital from Amber to Jaipur, designing the city according to principles of traditional Indian and Rajput architecture and urban planning. Jaipur State was ruled by successive generations of the Kachwaha dynasty.
